LAST CHANCE TO WIN . . . A BOTTLE OF MEMPHIS-STYLE BARBECUE SAUCE . . .

Earlier in the week, I held a contest in an effort to promote the upcoming release of my debut novel, AFTER THE DANCE. While Malcolm of Pop Culture Dish, Presented by Malcom won the free, autographed copy of the novel I was giving away, Pjazzy of Traces of a Stream won the free CD ( just so you know, she chose Four Play's version of After The Dance).

But there is one prize left! A bottle of Memphis style barbecue sauce (your choice of Neely's or Corky's) will be awarded to the first person able to correctly name all of the Al Green songs mentioned in my novel AFTER THE DANCE.

Pjazzy won the CD by correctly guessing that a total of six (6) Al Green songs are mentioned in AFTER THE DANCE. Thus far, she's also correctly guessed two of the songs: "Love and Happiness" and "Look What You've Done For Me."

Since there is only one prize left and only four songs to guess, I'm adding a new rule to the game. Hey, it's my game, I can do what I want (LOL). Anyway, the new rule is you can only guess two songs at a time. Okay? Got it?

Now, all of you lurkers out there need to come out of hiding and give Pjazzy a good run for the sauce (smile). Hmm, things could get messy. But if they do, I'll happily throw in some free napkins or a roll of paper towels (LOL).

Winner or no winner, the contest will officially end on Sunday morning (March 23, 2008). But don't worry, there will be other contests and other prizes.

In the meantime,

Have a great Good Friday and a Blessed Easter

"L-O-V-E (Love)" and "Let’s Get Married". I told you I would return, just waited for the repost.

She's back . . .
LOL. Sorry, PJ, neither one is correct. Try again.

Okay, well let's try "Back Up The Train" and "Here I Am Baby"

Umm PJ,
What songbook are your thumbing through, girl? I have never in life heard an Al Green song called, "Back Up The Train." (LOL)

Now, "Here I Am Baby" was the jam! That's probably one of my favorite AG songs. But sadly, it's not one the four remaining songs either (smile).

Where's that logic that worked so well for you last time? I think if you used it, you'd figure out the other four songs in a snap!

Ask your mother about "Back up the Train". It was his first big hit back in 1968. You ought to check it out. I am going through the Al Green song book in my head, hoping it's not his religious songs, because if it is I am toast.

Hey PJ,
I stand corrected about the AG song "Back Up The Train." Even though I've never head it, the hubby (who I really believe is about 10 years older than he claims) insists they played the song on Memphis radio when he was a kid. He says he can recall one of his sisters and her friend singing along with the song. Then he tells me to call her up and have her sing it for me. I'm like, ah, no thank you (LOL).

Don't worry. No religious songs on the list (smile). Now you know I'm not gonna have folks knocking boots with "Jesus Is Love" playing in the background (LOL). What? You think I'm trying to catch a lightening bolt or sumthin'? (tee-hee)

I'm running out of time so I better get busy. "For The Good Times" and "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart"

Lori said...

BINGO,
You got another one! "For The Good Times." Three down. Three to go.

"Livin' For You" and "Full of Fire"

Lori said...

Hmm,
Both wrong. I think you need a CLUE. So try this-- all of the songs you've guessed correctly thus far, have something in common . . .

Ok, so they are all on the "I'm Still In Love With You" album. I already said still in love, but I didn't give the complete title. "I'm Still In Love With You" and I'm Glad You're Mine"

Lori said...

You might be onto something (smile). "I'm Glad You're Mine" is an incorrect selection. But you have 4 of the 6 . . .

"What A Wonderful Thing Love Is", "Simply Beautiful" and "Oh Pretty Woman" Is all that's left on this album. I never heard of these songs and my mother had the album. I only listened to the hits.

Hey, you know the rules (LOL)! Two songs at a time. I'm gonna have to call a foul on you PJ.

Yes, two of those songs are in the book. The question is which ones?
In any case, it's Sunday morning and the game is officially over!(smile). Of course, I'll have to give you some kind of prize for persistence.

In the mean time, go listen to those three songs. They are truly wonderful. Hey, now that's a thought, how about Al Green's "Still In Love With You" CD? You want it?

Hey Lori,

I never turn down a CD. It was fun trying to guess. Thanks for the good time.

I wasn't feeling lucky, so I ordered the book from Amazon. Can't wait to get it! Congrats again!
