It really is just so sad. I love the J5 as a kid, but my favorite was Jermaine :-)
I remember watching the J5 cartoon. I liked Michael best.
I loved this! I remember teen fan magazines that wondered if there was a feud between the Jacksons and the Osmonds ... "Got to Be There" and "Ben" and "I Wanna Be Where You Are," and agreeing with my friends that he would be just fine without his brothers ... then being on a beer run and seeing the Motown 25 "Billie Jean" performance for the first time on a small black and white TV behind the counter at Walgreen's. When I got back to the party, EVERYONE was talking about the moonwalk. How poignant about your son and the sax solo. Like you, I missed Michael long before he died.
Along with the ones that you listed, some of my favorite MJ memories are:
1. The cardboard cutouts of the J5 records on the backs of cereal boxes.
2. Seeing the video for "Beat It" for the first time on "Solid Gold"
3. The Jacksons' variety series
4. The 30th anniversary concerts at Madison Square Garden in 2001
5. Watching my brother's DVD of the "Dangerous" tour
6. His surprise appearance with NSYNC at the MTV Video Awards in 2001
i still cant believe he is gone, he was such a talented artist. His music will never be forgotten.
I love your no. 4. It somehow eased my heavy heart. Last night I moaned about MJ's autopsy report to a doctor friend hoping to hear scientific-sounding replies. We ended up on the lyrics of "She's out of my life" and warned ourselves it could be us singing "He's out of my life" if we didn't sort out the present state of our relationships. I love your list, really all of it!
Great T13!!
One thing I remember as if it were yesterday. Meeting at a friend's house to see the release of the Thriller video. It was a big deal! Had to laugh at #9. Totally forgot about that :)
Duh. took me a minute to get the J5 thing. Nice list.

Honestly it's hard to believe he is gone. I was always amazed that his career began at the age 5. He's an amazing talent and he certainly did leave his mark on the world. I'm curious to see if any of his children will follow in his footsteps.
Great memories - I had similar magazine fixes for The Bay City Rollers, believe it or not.
His early stuff with the Jackson Five is my favorite. 'Got to Be There' and 'I Want You Back'.
Timely 13 this week ... Michael Jackson will be missed but his contributions will live forever.
Hugs and blessings,
Well....I loved what Michael was before the weirdness set in. I remember the videos from the Thriller album, especially the video for Thriller itself, being absolutely groundbreaking.
Just here via TT!
I watched the J5 cartoon on Saturday mornings, too, but I was planning on marrying Marlon. ;)
Thanks for sharing the memories.
Like Janet, I was a Jermaine girl back in the day, too (but 40 years later he'd be my last pick).
I so feel you on #10 and especially #12!
